July 3, 2020 - The paper "Global Solution Strategies for the Network-Constrained Unit Commitment Problem with AC Transmission Constraints" by Jianfeng Liu, Carl Laird, Joseph Scott, Jean-Paul Watson, and Anya Castillo was recognized by IEEE Transactions on Power Systems as one of the highest quality papers from 2017-2019.

September 20, 2018 - The Scott Group was awarded a new research grant entitled "Strategies for continuous biologics purification with new affinity membranes" from the National Institutes of Health. This project is a collaboration with PI Dr. Scott Husson.

September 4, 2018 - A Clemson team led by Dr. Mark Thies (with Dr. Scott as co-Principal Investigator) was awarded a new grant entitled "Lignin Fractionation and Valorization:  Focusing on both Value and Quality" from the US Department of Energy through the BioEnergy Engineering for Products Synthesis (BEEPS) Program. November 14, 2017 - The Scott Research group joined the RAPID Center for Process Modeling (CPM). The CPM was commissioned by the DOE RAPID Institute in May 2017 with the mission of standardizing and advancing process modeling methodology for evaluating chemical process intensification technologies. The CPM is led by Dr. Chau-Chyun Chen at TTU, and is a collaboration between RAPID, TTU, CU, SRNL, Aspen Technologies, Dow Chemicals, and others. The Scott Group's activities in CPM are supported by the SC Department of Commerce and led by PhD candidate Taehun Kim.

August 3, 2017 - The paper "Rapid and Accurate Reachability Analysis for Nonlinear Dynamic Systems by Exploiting Model Redundancy" by Kai Shen and Joseph K. Scott was accepted for publication in Computers and Chemical Enginering.

July 1, 2017 - The Scott Group was awarded a research grant entitled "Global Optimization of Large-Scale AC Power Flow Problems" from Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia. This work will be led by PhD Candidate Yuanxun Shao.

May 13, 2017 - Dr. Scott won the 2017 Automatica Paper Prize from the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). This award recognizes the three best papers published in the premier control journal Automatica the the three year period from 2015 to 2017, and was awarded for the paper  "Constrained Zonotopes: A New Tool for Set-Based Estimation and Fault Detection," by Joseph K. Scott, Davide M. Raimondo, G. Roberto Marseglia, and Richard D. Braatz.

July 13, 2016 - Dr. Scott won the 2016 W. David Smith, Jr. Graduate Publication Award from the CAST Division of AIChE. This award recognizes the paper "Generalized McCormick Relaxations," by Joseph K. Scott and Paul I. Barton, which was also recognized by the inaugural best paper award from the Journal of Global Optimization in 2012.

January 15, 2016 - Dr. Scott won the 2016 Young Investigator Prize from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. This award will support the groups work on uncertainty propagation in nonlinear dynamic systems, which is led by PhD candidate Kai Shen.
